The most appealing element I like about most shrines in Japan is the natural wooden color of the buildings architecture and the way the landscape creates a cinematic feel of sunlight and shadows 1. To be honest, I don’t know whether this was intentional, but I can’t help thinking that someone must have thought deeply about where to place each tree in just the right spot.
